Blur.

My intention with this blog was to write down daily life happenings.  To have something to look back on and remember where I was, what I did, and how I’ve grown.  Well, the past month has been such a blur of activity I’ve hardly had time to catch up on sleep, let alone blog posts.

We finished finals for our first module this fall, and happily I can report I got A’s in both of them :)   (Don’t know how that keeps happening by the way… every module I’m sure I’ll get a B).  After finishing our last final on Wednesday the 12th, we started up new classes on Monday the 17th.  Yay for a 5 day break!!  This module we are going to class 3 nights a week…yes you read that right, three!  It’s amazing how fast weeks fly by when you only have one evening at home.  Luckily in less than 7 weeks Dwyatt and I will be 1/2 way done with this program!  All downhill from there :)

So, we also recently had our fall party… it was so much fun!  So much fun in fact that I completely forgot to take pictures! Oops… I guess that’s what cooking all day & having 30 people over will do to you!  I did however make these cupcakes, and they were fabulous!

Oh, and remember my hunt for a new kitchen rug??  I found one!  Thank you Pier One :)

I’ll try to be better about writting again…

Happy Tuesday!

Fire Logs!!!

Today we came home from work, after a very long week I might add, and the fireplace logs were here!!!  We have been waiting on these silly things for 3 weeks, and I have been so anxious about it.  For some reason it just felt like, “when we get the logs we’ll finally be FINISHED with this project!”  Well… they have arrive!  And arrived in high style I might add, I think they look fabulous:

So, tonight’s plans include some wine, lasagna, and sitting by the new awesome fireplace :)  And just in time for fall weather… we are down into the 50′s at night now.  Can’t wait for our fall party next weekend!

(Only drawback to installing a 1 inch gas line to your fireplace…. I made the mistake of looking at the meter… you can literally watch it move around & around in circles…)

MIA

I apologize for being MIA the last week or so… Work and finals have consumed my life. With finals done & 1 margarita down I’m starting to feel like my old self again!

Normal blogging will resume tomorrow :)

Happy Birthday My Love!

My Love,

Happy 27th Birthday!  It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating your 21st birthday, and before you headed out for the boys for the evening (where I assume, ok know, you drank way too much beer…) you asked me to officially be your girlfriend.  It was the strangest thing because on a night where we were celebrating you, you were handing me a card and a dozen roses.  Inside were some of the most kind and sincere words I have ever read.  Isn’t that just like you?  To think of others when it’s suppose to be your day.

Well, 6 years later I’m glad to say I’m still your “girlfriend” and we are celebrating YOU!  Unfortunately we will be sitting in class all night, so that’s not very celebratory, but I want you to know how much I love you and how much this life with you means to me.  Growing older together is such a wonderful thing because it means we have more history together.  I love our history, and I look forward to one day celebrating your 77th birthday with you too!

Yours forever,

PS – I have a little surprise planned for class tonight… birthdays shouldn’t be too boring, even if you are learning about Corporate Finance.  :D

Sick.

Ugh, today I’m sick.  I hate being sick.  I have been feeling it come on for a few days now and last night it became a full on head cold.  This morning I wasn’t any better so now I’m home from work (which I never like because I spend all day thinking of the things I need to get done), and I’m trying to get better.

I have to be one of the worst sick people.  Maybe it’s because I am always so busy, and I honestly like to be busy, that I have a hard time just sitting around doing nothing.  The idea of spending a day feeling terrible, doped up on Dayquil, surrounded by tissue boxes, and gallons of juice is not my ideal day.

I would take an extremely busy, yet healthy day, over this one any time!  Here’s to hoping I can recover quickly… now back to the couch I go…

(On a positive note, perhaps I’ll spend a lot of quality time with my Kindle today… currently reading The Help and I’m really enjoying it!)

Decorating for Fall!

This weekend we decorated for fall!  This is one of my favorite times of year to decorate our house, because for some reason I feel like our house just really shines during the fall and at the holidays.  I think it’s maybe because we have a red kitchen, it’s a pretty dark wine color, and it just goes well with all the fall and Christmas colors.

Anyway, I pulled out all my regular decorations and then for the patio this year we bought some straw bales and pumpkins!  The country girl in me couldn’t be more excited about having straw bales in my back yard :)  Starting to gear up for our fall party!!  Here are a few photos of the decor around the house:

Outdoor lanterns with baby pumpkins & gourds!Did I mention that the boots arrived?  They’re perfect, I <3 them :)  Pretty excited about scarf season!I’m having a hard time getting Dwyatt out of these hammock chairs this weekend…Someone else loves the fall decorations too :) Ok, back to our lazy Sunday afternoon!  Tonight I’m making Italian Tortellini soup for dinner, Yum!
