Please Pray

My hometown is on fire. The Waldo Canyon fire has been burning in Colorado Springs since last weekend. It’s the most destructive fire Colorado Springs has ever seen. Currently over 15,000 acres and 0% containment. With the combination of record heat, strong winds (gusts up to 60mph yesterday), and no rain in sight, this fire continues to threaten the city and the beautiful Colorado landscape.

32,000 people have been evacuated from their homes, including the entire United States Air Force Academy. An unknown number of structures have been lost, and the fire continues to jump over the fire barriers.

Please pray. Pray that the wind stops. Pray that the temperatures cool. Pray that rain comes. Pray for the health and endurance of the brave firefighters who are laying their lives on the line. Pray for the families who have lost their homes.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah. the Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. “

Psalm 46:1-3,7

As amazing as this photo is, it’s about 2 days old… the fire has now burned down the front of the mountains, below the red rock formation you can see, and into the homes below. Note the Air Force football stadium in lower part of the picture…

The iconic Air Force Academy Chapel: Large pieces of ash is falling out of the sky. Pine needles, whole charred aspen leaves, and now this: a page from a book somewhere…

Please Pray for these families.
